Meet RESPECT Board Member: Daleska Ruiz
Why is RESPECT important to you?
RESPECT is important to me because it cultivates the conversation of how we should be treating all things, whether living or not around us.

What is your favorite RESPECT program and why?
I would say that Cracked But Not Broken would be my favorite… even though I have yet to see it. I was reading over it and I think that it is very important for kids of all ages to start receiving information about heathy relationships with partners, speaking for myself with a little sister that insists that everybody that she meets could be the one I would love her her to see this and hopefully take something away from it.
How did you get involved with RESPECT?
I got involved with RESPECT through my day job. I work at Centris Federal Credit Union and was told about the open board position by a former boss of mine. She had sent me some information and as soon as I started reading it I became more and more excited about this organization.
What would it have been like to have RESPECT when you were a kid in school?
To have had a program like RESPECT when I was younger would have been amazing. Not only is it an amazing resource for everyone, but I believe that it would have been an additional tool that would’ve given me real life scenarios that would have better prepared me for being an adult.
What do you like about being on the board of RESPECT?
In a selfish way, being on the board of RESPECT gives me another purpose, so I like that. In addition, I also like that it feels that I am a part of something greater than myself that will be helping little kids all over. This program gives them a sense of power and I am sure that it instill confidence as well .
