Meet RESPECT Actor-Educator: Christina Spillman

What is your favorite RESPECT educational play?

My favorite RESPECT play is Stop and Think! It’s one of the shows we do the most, and I can see why. Stop and Think has lots of advice on how to deal with big feelings and how to be kinder to our friends. I love playing Lily because she is so empathetic and joyful. It makes me smile every time I hear kids singing, “It’s perfect, it’s perfect, it’s such a perfect helmet!”

What is the best part of your interactions at RESPECT programs?

My favorite interactions with students are the ones where they tell me that they want to be an actor too. I love hearing that the new generation is invested in theatre, and I’m glad RESPECT can show them a legitimate career path for young actors. Plus, we give them a chance to perform with us! It makes me feel so connected to our community.

What is something that you’ve learned by being part of RESPECT?
Something I’ve learned in my time at RESPECT is that just because something doesn’t go the way you thought, doesn’t mean the result is bad. My job is different every day, and I can’t always know what to expect. I’ve learned to embrace the variety of it. It keeps me on my toes!
