RESPECT is seeking an Artistic Director for our educational theatre company with a catalog of 13 programs addressing bullying, child abuse, dating violence and mental health. This is a great opportunity for an individual who can operate with a flexible schedule to work independently and within a group while using their artistic and administrative talents to make a difference in the lives of 30,000 individuals each year ages pre-school through adult.
The RESPECT Artistic Director is responsible for casting and maintaining the artistic integrity of RESPECT productions in collaboration with the input of other members of the RESPECT team. This includes the management of rehearsals and supervision of the actor-educators, and overseeing the artistic components of the programs such as costuming and props. He or she will be RESPECT’s primary contact for schools and organizations to schedule performances returning correspondence within 24-business hours and maintaining spreadsheets, performance agreements and calendars. The Artistic Director also acts as a site liaison and coordinates stage management by either attending performances or designating other staff to fill that role. This is a part-time, hourly position with an expectation of requiring 15 – 25 hours per week.
Experience & Requirements
- Degree in Theatre or equivalent experience
- Experience in Directing
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and manage multiple projects at once
- Preferred But Not Required: Experience in Theatre for Social Change and/or Education
