Columbus Community Hospital Brings In RESPECT to Stage Conversations at Camp
Dr. Newman and RESPECT’s actor educators traveled to Columbus, NE to present “Choices” at the Columbus Community Hospital’s S.N.A.P. Camp. The “Choices” educational theatre program and talk-back discussion focus on issues surrounding mental health, with the host site selecting three topics from a menu of offerings. At S.N.A.P. Camp, the youth present observed scenes about self-harm, body image, and suicide/depression. While these are challenging and weighty issues to cover, RESPECT’s blend of theatre and discussion help students to learn about these important matters in an engaging and safe way within a supportive environment.
The Columbus Telegram covered RESPECT’s involvement and the hospital’s camp initiative. Read more about it here.
