Job Description:

Actor Educators are the foundation of our team and will rehearse and perform in interactive educational plays and workshops for participants of all ages. These programs are specifically designed to meet the core of RESPECT’s mission to “Stage Conversations” about bullying, abuse, mental health, and other topics relating to healthy relationships.

Ideal candidates should have strong backgrounds in performance as well as education and or/youth leadership. They should also have a passion for mental health awareness and be able to utilize their theatre expertise to help audiences learn about empathy.

Required experience/qualifications: 

  •  At least one (1) year of acting/performance experience
  •  Positive attitude 
  •  Willing to collaborate and learn from others
  •  Dependability 
  •  Reliable transportation
  • The ability to remain flexible and adaptable to respond to the evolving needs of our audience and program sites
  • Willing to to take on tasks of all sizes given the compact nature of our organization
  • Proficiency in maintaining open lines of communication and addressing questions or concerns effectively    


Additional preferred skills and experience: 

  • One (1) year of teaching/educational experience or youth leadership/mentorship 
  • Strong memorization and improvisation skills
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Panel moderating 
  • Experience working in the non-profit arts or education sectors
  • Basic knowledge of Google Workspace

Basic Actor-Educator Duties Include

  • Attending rehearsals 
  • Memorizing lines and blocking
  • Performing in and facilitating RESPECT plays 
  • Teaching social-emotional skills from RESPECT-provided lesson plans during workshops, and after-school programs 
  • Traveling to and from sites with all necessary materials
  • Responding to all organization communication within 24 business hours
  • Participating in team meetings, professional developments, and trainings
  • Collaborating with other Actor-Educators and RESPECT staff

 

Actor Educators are classified as part-time employees of RESPECT. The majority of work will be scheduled during the following days and times:

  • Tuesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm


All RESPECT programming is scheduled during these time frames, which includes (but is not limited to): rehearsals, performances, workshops, after-school programs, meetings, filming promotional materials, and professional development. Any potential programming scheduled outside of those hours will be strictly based on Actor Educator availability.

Most programs are performed in the Omaha-Metro area. Some travel beyond that area is required, with occasional overnight caravans. Additional pay commensurate with the demands of out-of-town performances.

Compensation: 

  • $19.00/hour for rehearsals, meetings, and professional development
  • $40 per after school program
  • $75 per performance and workshop

 

Periodic overnight travel will be compensated at a separate rate. Attending the annual fundraiser the evening of October 23, 2025 is REQUIRED.
