Full Scholarships Available for “Choices” Middle School Mental Health Program

Students have questions about very real concerns. They often have few resources to access and often have faulty misinformation. They often seek out information from drama in media or peers which in many cases is misleading or inaccurate.

Choices is a menu play which focuses on teen social issues. Host sites choose three of the following seven scenes, specific to the school or organization’s unique culture: Bullying, Teen Dating Violence, Alcohol, Drugs, Body Image, Self-Injurious Behavior, Suicide/Depression.

The performance is followed by a talk-back session to help students process the information demonstrated in the play. The talkback is led by RESPECT’s actor-educators along with a mental health professional. To best meet the needs of the audience, students submit questions anonymously to be discussed by the panel.

Thanks to a grant from the Kim Foundation RESPECT can offer full scholarships for this program as well as Parent and/or Teacher Trainings.
